Science Week
Flames, fire trucks, and flying eggs
A whole week of discovery, featuring a live science show from the Pacific Science Center and our legendary annual Egg-Drop Contest, run in conjunction with the Seattle Fire Department and their aerial ladder truck!

The science show kicks us off. Heat! Light! Gas! Color change! It's a lively, fact-filled 45-minute live show with blue and green flames, an ordinary Ziploc turning into an exploding yellow bag, and a foam fountain finale. We split the whole school into two groups so every student gets a front-row seat. (Sorry, parents — this one's students only!)
Build night is open lab time. Does your student need a little extra lab time? Drop by any time, stay for as little or as long as you like, and work on egg-drop vehicles with friends. We'll have tools and materials, but bring your own too — and extras to share if you can.
Then the big drop. Our firefighters raise the ladder and over the eggs go. You can build at home or at school, and we're not limiting your materials, so get creative!
We're holding Science Week a little later in the year this time around. Last year's drop got postponed for weather, so shifting it back buys us better conditions and more daylight.
