WHY I GIVE

“As a Pathfinder parent and teacher, this school holds significant meaning for my family. My babies have grown up on the playground, made best friends at recess, and fallen in love with the teachers. Pre-Covid, we took advantage of Geology and Coding classes after school, field trips and expeditions, an Elder’s Lunch, a BINGO night, and our all-time favorite: stories with Roger! We’re looking forward to enjoying these PTSA opportunities again soon. As a teacher, my classroom is enriched every year with new books and supplies. Every dollar given to the PTSA comes back to us exponentially. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for this loving village we have found!”

“As a busy parent, I love our Direct Give fundraiser. It’s the most efficient & effective way to donate if you’re able to. No widgets, sugary treats, or hassle, just straight to the point.”

That’s right friends! A quick visit to our link, or drop cash or a check in the PTSA mailbox in the front office, and you’re done!

We appreciate your support! All funds donated go directly back to Pathfinder.

Pathfinder is a community that is shaping my children’s values as they grow into themselves and learn how to be part of an intentional community. I have seen how much my children have gained confidence and connection through our outdoor programs such as camping and the garden as well as the WeAPP youth empowerment program. As parents we are modeling service and giving and that starts each Fall at Pathfinder K-8 with our family’s donation to Direct Give.

This is my 4th year as a Pathfinder parent. I have a long history with giving and volunteering my time to help underprivileged youth, specifically athletics related. I’ve volunteered my time to many organizations to help young athletes through athletic camps, tutoring, advising, and even started my own Non-Profit to help underprivileged athletes achieve the next level (college athletic scholarship). I’ve always felt a deep passion and purpose of giving to my community, specifically youth. My family experienced hardship growing up and I didn’t always have the resources I needed. The success I’ve had in life would not be possible without additional support, influences, and means offered from my community, coaches, and teachers.

As I’ve grown into my role as a parent and navigating our school system, I’ve become more aware of elementary aged children’s needs and growth during these specific years. My passion has shifted to help our school provide more support and enriching programs I want every child to have access to. With my recent experience volunteering in the PTSA, I have gained a lot of knowledge understanding what SPS provides for budget and what our PTSA funds. It’s been an eye-opening experience to see how much effort and support is provided by our amazing Pathfinder community to bring our expeditionary learning, extra curricular activities, and programs to life for our scholars. I give because I see what it takes to make our school run and I feel good knowing that our donations directly impact our scholars’ experiences. My favorite program the PTSA has sponsored thus far (partnering with our family-based Racial Equity Committee) was the diversification of our school’s library books and each classroom’s books. I also give because I want to see more equitable support for all of our BIPOC families and be a part of building a supportive and inclusive community.
