Meeting ID: 947 9944 5324

Passcode: g8pK2M

What: Continued connection around shared action interests. Sharing of new resources.

Continued support in helping each other stay accountable to our commitment.

Important note: You do NOT need to have a completed Pledge or have attended our first workshop to join us! This workshop is open to everyone and anyone interested in learning more about the Anti-Racist Pledge and connecting with other families around anti-racist action.

The beauty of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it’s the only way forward. – Ijioma Oluo

MADISON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Pathfinder parents, caregivers and educators AND their middle school age and up students are invited to join the Madison PTSA Racial Equity Team for “Our History: A Different Perspective,” with Anita Garcia Morales, Co-founder of Racing to Equity, on Thursday, March 31, 7:00-8:30 pm (with optional Q&A 8:30-9:00), via Zoom. We are also welcoming families of other feeder schools in the region as well.

Participants will:

  • Gain a historical understanding of the intentional construction of racism and classism and its present-day impact
  • Explore personal connections and how vestiges of the ‘history’ you learned manifest and impact your personal (and professional life)
  • Deepen knowledge about the four kinds of racism and what is within your sphere of influence to change
  • Cross-pollinate ideas and develop intentional practices to thrive as citizens centered on racial equity

There will be time for individual, small group and whole group participation. This interactive learning is geared toward middle school ages and up. After this session, you will more fully understand the roots of the institutional and structural racism and classism at all levels of our society.

Register now so we can send you the Zoom link before the meeting. We look forward to having you join us!

Warmly,

Robin Lutton
